Tour Description:
This combined tour offers a comprehensive and memorable exploration of the Sacred Valley cultural treasures and the awe-inspiring wonder of Machu Picchu. It provides an opportunity to learn about inca history, experience the vibrant culture of the region, and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Andes Mountains.
DETAILS OF TRIP
We will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco between 7:30 -8:00am, and begin the journey though the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas.
- Pisac: Our first stop will be the town of Pisac, where you will visit the impressive Pisac ruins and explore the traditional local market. Your guide will show you the most remarkable viewpoints and culture highlights.
- Urubamba: the trip continues for about 45 minutes until we reach Urubamba, where you will enjoy a buffet lunch of local dishes.
- Ollantaytambo: after lunch, we head to Ollantaytambo, Guided visit of the ruins (temple of the sun, moon and ceremonial terraces).
In the afternoon, you will board the Voyager train to Aguas Calientes (approx. 1.5 hrs). Upon arrival, our guide will meet you at the train stations and assist with check-in, at your accommodation. Depending on time, you may explore the town, shop for souvenirs, or visit the local hot springs before resting for the night.
After an early breakfast at your hotel, you will take a 30-minute bus ride up to the entrance of Machu Picchu. Here, you will enjoy a guided tour of the archaeological site, where you will learn about the history, architecture, and culture of this remarkable Inca citadel.
Following the tour, you will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time for lunch (not included).
Late in the afternoon, you will board your train back to Ollantaytambo (departure time indicated on your ticket). Upon arrival, private transport will be waiting to drive you back to Cusco, with drop-off at the Plaza de Armas. The exact arrival time will depend on your train schedule.
NOTE: For travellers seeking more adventure, we offer the option to hike Waynapicchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain (subject to availability and advance booking).
*Extra Hikes in Machu Picchu – These extra hiking options can take approximately 3-4 hours to go up and down depending on your speed. (if you would like to do this, please inform us during the booking as places are limited and tickets must be bought in advance).
*Important to know – If you add an extra hike, we will provide special instructions on how the schedule will be modified.
- Passport or valid ID (mandatory for train and Machu Picchu entry).
- Small backpack (max. 5-6 kg) for the overnight stay in Aguas Calientes. Large suitcases are not allowed on the train.
- Comfortable walking shoes (sneakers or hiking shoes with good traction).
- Light clothing for the day and warn layers for the evening (Aguas Calientes nights are cooler).
- Light rain jacket or poncho, specially in the rainy season (Nov-Mar).
- Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection in the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu.
- Insect repellent (important at Machu Picchu and Aguas Calientes).
- Snacks and bottle water for the journey.
- Personal toiletries and overnight essentials (toothbrush, medications, etc.).
- Camera or smartphone to capture the landscapes and Inca sites.
- Cahs (Peruvian soles) for meals not included, souvenirs or personal expenses (not all shops / restaurants take cards).
